DMCH patient dies after outsider ‘injected’ him
A patient met his tragic end after a non-professional person allegedly pushed him an injection at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) this afternoon.
The deceased Biplob Mondal, hailing from Keraniganj, was undergoing treatment at the neurosurgery department of the hospital due to his head injuries, police said.
Biplob was looking for a nurse to take the injection but did not get any help. Later, responding to his call, one Suman injected him around 3:30pm, Sub-Inspector Bachhu Mia, in-charge of DMCH police outpost, told The Daily Star.
Soon after pushing the injection, the condition of Biplob deteriorated and at one stage he died, the police official said.
Hearing the news, mobs caught Suman and gave him a good beating. Suman was then handed over to police.
Abul Hossain, a ward master of the neurosurgery department, said Suman is an outsider. He may be a helper of an ambulance service, Hussain added.
Abdul Gani, deputy director of DMCH, said that he heard the news and would take action after an investigation in this regard.
