Dhaka sergeant suspended for assaulting driver
An intern traffic sergeant of Dhaka who pinned a car driver to the ground with his boot and stirred a wave of uproar in the social media has been suspended.
Intern Sergeant Mehedi Hasan marred the reputation of police, said Khan Muhammad Rezwan, deputy commissioner of Dhaka South traffic zone.
A suspension order has already been floated in this regard. The Daily Star obtained a copy of the suspension order this morning that was dated July 24.
As police described it, Sergeant Mehedi Hasan assaulted a driver of a private car on Dhanmondi Road 7A on Saturday afternoon and handed him over to Dhanmondi Police Station.
A video of his actions was floated on Facebook and it drew social flak overnight.
