Destiny boss pleads not guilty

Destiny Multipurpose Cooperative Society Ltd Chairman Mohammad Hossain yesterday pleaded not guilty and demanded justice after a Dhaka court read out the charges derived from statements of 12 prosecution witnesses of a non-submission case.

Hossain pleaded not guilty after Judge KM Imrul Kayes of the Special Judge Court-6 of Dhaka read out the charges against him after finishing recording of the statements by prosecution witnesses.

The court fixed June 6 for hearing on arguments from both the prosecution and the defence.

In his written statement, Mohammad Hossain, said all allegations against him are false, fabricated and concocted.  He also said the prosecution has completely failed to prove the charges brought against him. So he appealed to the court to acquit him.

Earlier the court recorded statements of 12 prosecution including complainant of the case.

According to the prosecution, following allegations of amassing Tk 13.11 crore illegally, the ACC in June 15 2016 sent a notice to Mohammad Hossain asking him to submit his wealth statement in seven days.

He then sought time twice through his lawyer but he failed to submit his wealth statement in due time.

Later on September 2016, the ACC filed a non-submission case against him with Ramna Police Station.
