CU BCL men beat two Chhatra Front leaders

Some activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Chittagong University (CU) unit allegedly beat up two Samajtantrik Chhatra Front (SCF) leaders on the campus yesterday afternoon.

Both Md Kawsar, a second-year anthropology student, and Sonaiya Chakma, a first-year Pali student, are the executive members of SCF CU unit.

Ahsan Habib, general secretary of the unit, said some BCL activists led by Nasir Uddin Mishu, a student of the Institute of Education and Research, and Mamun, an economics student, suddenly attacked the two for no reason while they were taking lunch at a food stall before the arts and humanities.

They slapped the two across their faces several times and finally dragged them out the place hurling abuses, he alleged.

Mishu and Mamun could not be reached over the phone.  Habib lodged a written complaint with CU Proctor Office demanding legal steps against the attackers.

CU Proctor Ali Asgar Chowdhury said they were looking into the matter.
