Department of Environment (DoE) fined a washing factory Tk 4.4 lakh for polluting environment in Pahartali area of Chittagong city yesterday.
During a drive, a team of DoE officials found Lease Washing Ltd discharging toxic chemical wastes bypassing its effluent treatment plant (ETP).
Another factory in the area, Imam Button Industries Ltd, was issued show-cause notice as its ETP was found inactive, DoE officials said.
