Court seeks probe report by July 17

A Dhaka court yesterday asked Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) to submit by July 17 the probe report of the case filed over killing of Sagor Sarowar and Meherun Runi.

Metropolitan Magistrate Md Mazharul Haque passed the order, after ASP Mohiuddin Ahmed of Rab, also IO of the case, failed to submit the probe report.

Three agencies, including Rab, failed to submit the probe report despite taking 54 dates in the last six years.

On February 11 in 2012, Runi, senior reporter of private TV channel ATN Bangla, and her husband Sagar, news editor of Maasranga TV, were killed in their West Rajabazar apartment in Dhaka.

After investigation by Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police and detectives, Rab started probing the double murder on April 18, 2012.
