Court seeks asset reports of three fugitives
A Dhaka court yesterday ordered police to attach properties of three fugitive BNP leaders accused in a case filed over plotting to kidnap and kill the prime minister's son Sajeeb Wazed Joy.
The fugitives are Mohammad Ullah Mamun, vice-president of Jatiyatabadi Samajik Sangskritik Sangstha (Jasas), his son Rizvi Ahmed Caesar, and US-based expatriate businessman Mizanur Rahman Bhuiyan.
Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sarafuzzaman Ansari passed the order after Lalbagh Police Station and Panchlaish Police Station in Chittagong submitted reports on execution of arrest warrants issued by the same court on March 6.
The court fixed June 7 directing the officers-in-charge (OCs) of the police stations to submit reports on execution of attachment order.
According to the reports submitted, both the police stations failed to arrest the trio as they fled Bangladesh.
The same court on March 6 charged Amar Desh Acting Editor Mahmudur Rahman, Journalist Shafik Rehman and three others, and issued warrants against them.
