Comilla city mayor gets bail

Comilla City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Monirul Hoque Shakoo yesterday got bail in a graft case filed by the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) in 2008.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sheikh Hafizur Rahman passed the order after Shakoo appeared before the court.

Earlier on January 4, the High Court asked Shakoo to appear before the CMM court.

On November 21 last year, he was discharged by a trial court as the charges brought against him were not proven.

On Jan 7, 2008, the ACC filed the case against the CCC mayor and his wife with Ramna Police Station on charge of their involvement in amassing Tk 4.57 crore.
