Body to be formed to probe Bashundhara City fire
Authorities of Bashundhara shopping mall will form a six-member probe body to investigate the fire incident that broke out yesterday morning.
The body, which is likely to include fire service department officials, aims to find out if there remained any flaw in dousing the blaze and whether necessary steps were taken during the incident, Jashim Uddin, head of marketing of the complex, told The Daily Star this afternoon.

“A total of 11 shops were completely gutted and 20-21 others were partially burnt. Some others were also damaged in water and flames,” he said.
However, he could not ascertain the approximate loss in the incident.
Meanwhile, businessmen and shop owners were found waiting outside the mall with pale faces.
On completion of cleanup activities by this evening, fire service department will let the owners and businessmen enter to revamp the damaged shops, he added.
“We hope we can let the owners enter by this evening after cleaning up the shopping mall,” he said.
Firefighters and staff of the shopping mall are jointly cleaning up the mega mall in Panthapath area since this morning, he said.
Plumes of smoke continued to spiral out of the eight-storey shopping mall till early hours of today.
The cause of the blaze, which started on level-6 around 11:00am yesterday, remains unknown.
This is the fifth fire incident at the market and the adjacent 20-storey building which is used as Bashundhara's office since 2009, according to shop owners and employees.
