About 200 children from different educational institutions yesterday at an event prayed to the world to stop killing, abuse and torture of children across the globe.

"We, the children, want to live. We want peace…," they recited from a written text. They urged that a better and liveable society will be created for them.

Ethics Club Bangladesh (ECB) arranged the event marking Ethics Day at Central Shaheed Minar. ME Chowdhury, founder and president of ECB, said the club, launched in 2008, has branches at about 100 educational institutions.

The organisers distributed 100 copies of a book “Russel-er Jonno Opekkha”, authored by Selina Hossain, among children. They also released balloons tied with children's prayers written in papers. Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor and State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam also spoke.
