Case not filed even after two days
Two days after the recovery of stab-marked bodies of a mother and her two daughters from a government quarter in the capital's Mirpur area, no case was filed over the incident.
“We primarily suspect the mother might have killed her daughters before killing herself. But the incident needs to be investigated as there were multiple stab marks found on each body,” Selimuzzaman, officer-in-charge of Darussalam Police Station, said.
Police also said they are waiting for the postmortem report.
Last Monday, police recovered the bodies of Jesmin Akhtar, 35, her daughters Adila Tahsin Hani, 4, and Hasiba Tasnim Himi, 9. Jesmin's husband, Hasibul Islam, and her brother broke open the door of the house and found the bodies on the floor, in pools of blood, around 5:30pm, police said quoting the relatives.
Jesmin's brother Shahinul Islam, cousin Juthi and Hasibul's nephew Rawshan Jamil, along with his wife Rumana Begum and their daughter also lived in the flat.
On Tuesday, postmortems of the three bodies were done at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College morgue.
Doctors said the three died from severe bleeding. They collected viscera samples of the bodies.
Jasmine used to work at Department of Agriculture Extension in Khamarbari.
According to relatives, she was suffering from depression.
Abdul Ahad, a shopkeeper in the neighbourhood, said Jesmin was a regular shopper.
“I have known her for the last 10 years, but it didn't seem like she was suffering from any mental illness,” he said.
The OC said, they are investigating into the incident.
Police were also looking for CCTV footage of the area when the incident took place.
