Case filed against AL leader, 11 others
A murder case has been filed over the death of five workers in an illegal stone quarry at Kalairag of Bholaganj under Companiganj upazila on Sunday night.
Nasir Miah, son of one of the victims Atabur Rahman, filed the case with Companiganj Police Station Monday night, accusing seven named, including Ali Amjad Hossain, president of the upazila unit of AL, and 5 unnamed persons, said Inspector Dilip Nath.
The other named accused are Foyzur Rahman, Abdur Rouf, Mashuk Miah, Foyjul Karim Kala, Tanvir Ahmed Tonai and Abdus Sattar.
Abdur Rouf, the labour supervisor, detained Sunday night, has been shown arrested in the case, he said, adding, other than that, no one has been arrested yet.
On Sunday, five workers were killed and three others injured while extracting stones at the quarry. They were digging in a pit when a massive chunk of earth fell on them.
Two committees, one by the district administration and another by police, were formed on Monday to investigate the incident. They were asked to submit reports in seven days.
