Bus-truck collision kills 4 in Sirajganj
Four people were killed and 10 others injured as a bus collided head-on with a truck near Koddar intersection on the Bangabandhu bridge link road yesterday afternoon.
One of the deceased was Liton Chatergy, 45, of Pabna Sadar. However, the identity of the other victims could be known immediately.
Officer-in-charge of Bangabandhu Bridge West Zone Police Station Abu Daud said the incident occurred when the Pabna-bound bus collided with the Dhaka-bound as both the drivers lose their control over their vehicles.
Two passengers died on the spot while two others died on the way to Sirajganj General Hospital, said the OC.
Following the accident, vehicular movement came to a halt for an hour on the Bangabandhu Bridge, said the OC.
In another accident in Brahmanbaria, a 10-year-old girl was killed as a truck ran her over on Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Bahadurpur area of Ashuganj upazila yesterday.
The deceased was Taslima, daughter of Moiz Mia of Shoilarampur village under Habiganj upazila.
Police detained truck driver Mintu Mia and seized the truck.
