BSTI fines three shops Tk 6 lakh in Dhaka
Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) yesterday fined three business outlets Tk 6 lakh in total for violating BSTI licence rules and Consumers' Rights Protection Act.
Two BSTI teams with the support from Dhaka Metropolitan Police conducted the drive in the city's Chawkbazar and Gulshan areas.
The BSTI team fined Original Bombay Sweets and Confectionery Tk 3 lakh for selling iftar items in an unhygienic manner while Alauddin Sweetmeat Limited Tk 2 lakh for violating the BSTI rules, said a BSTI press release.
In a separate drive in Gulshan-2, the team, led by Tropa, fined Lavender Superstore Tk 1 lakh on charge of doing business illegally.
