BSMMU wall collapse kills woman
A woman died and four others sustained injuries as a boundary wall of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) collapsed yesterday.
A portion of the boundary wall of its C-Block collapsed around 5:00pm during rain, leaving five people injured, said BSMMU Director (Hospital) Brig Gen Md Abdullah-Al-Harun.
Parvin Akter, 45, one of the injured, died of head injuries at Intensive Care Unit of BSMMU around 7:30pm, he said.
Other injured -- Antara Jahan, BMSSU nurse; Md Faruk, Ansar member; Jahidul Hasan, assistant sub-inspector; and Ruhul Bishwas, a journalist -- were admitted to the hospital, said OC Abul Hasan of Shahbagh Police Station.
He said the wall partially collapsed and fell on the five while they were walking on a footpath. The boundary wall is located on the north side of the hospital.
