Bomb-like substances in doctor's room create panic at DMCH
Shahbagh police found two bomb-like substances in the room of a doctor in Dhaka Medical College Hospital yesterday morning.
Associate Prof Debesh Chandra Talukder of the ENT department told The Daily Star that he worked till 2:45pm on Wednesday and then left after locking the room on the first floor of the outpatient department.
The staff, who work at his room, opened it in the morning and found a bottle and a can -- both wrapped with red scotch tapes. Later, police rushed to the spot.
The bomb disposal team of the Detective Branch of police took away the substances.
Following the incident, a panic situation prevailed there.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of DB's bomb disposal team Sanwar Hossain told The Daily Star that the bottle contained water and the can did not have any explosive inside it.
He suspected that somebody had played the trick to create panic.
