Bodies of 3 missing youths recovered

Bodies of the three youths, who went missing in the Bay of Bengal on Friday, at Banshbaria beach in Sitakunda, were found yesterday in the Bay.

The deceased were identified as Md Saiful Islam, 24; Md Alauddin, 20, Md Yasir, 18.

Saiful and Alauddin were employees of Chittagong City Corporation while Yasir worked for a printing press.

Fire Service and Civil Defence recovered the bodies from the same point where they went missing, Wasi Azad, Station Officer of Sitakunda Fire Service told The Daily Star.

The bodies were handed over to the district administration, added the official.

Quoting witnesses, the officer said, the trio was among a group of 22 youths who went to visit the beach during the weekend. On June 21, two other youths went missing in the same area and their bodies were recovered the next day.

After the incident, local administration put a signboard at the spot asking visitors to avoid the place, said Tarikul Alam, upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) of Sitakunda.
