The High Court yesterday denied bail to detained BNP leader Aslam Chowdhury in a corruption case involving Tk 135 crore.

The bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Shahidul Karim passed the order after Aslam's lawyer Faisal Mahmud Faizee prayed for rejecting the bail petition considering that it was not moved for hearing.

ACC filed the case on December 26, 2016 for misappropriating Tk 135 crore through his company Rising Steel Limited between 2008 and 2012. Separately, Aslam was also sued for sedition in 2016 for allegedly conspiring with Israel's Likud Party and its intelligence agency to oust the present Sheikh Hasina-led government.

Aslam secured bail in the sedition case last year.
