Be worthy citizens

PM urges youths

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday urged the youths of the country to become worthy citizens.

She also called upon them to be imbued with the spirit of Liberation War as well as the sacrifice of the tens of thousands of martyrs.

The prime minister was speaking at the cultural programme, organised by the cultural affairs ministry at the capital's Suhrawardy Udyan, celebrating the 47th Victory Day through a videoconference from her official residence Gono Bhaban.

“We have to remember all the time that we are the victorious nation, you must not forget this for a second, we never bow down to anyone, we will put our step in the world arena keeping our heads high, this will be our promise for today,” she said.

Recalling the horrific days of August 15, 1975, Hasina said the defeated anti-liberation force thought that by killing Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members they will be able to distort the history of the country.

After the inaugural speech, she talked to some people who gathered at the venue.
