Bangla Academy to publish Tajuddin's biography
Bangla Academy has taken initiative to publish the biography of Tajuddin Ahmad, the country's first prime minister.
Shamsuzzaman Khan, director general of Bangla Academy made the announcement while launching a book at Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB) in Dhaka.
The book titled “Je Somoyer Kotha Dhorte Cheyechi” [The time I have wanted to catch] was authored by Mahjabin Ahmad Mimi, the youngest daughter of Tajuddin Ahmad.
The 128-page book contains Mimi's writings published in different newspaper on contemporary affairs.
Addressing the programme, the DG said Bangla academy has unanimously passed a proposal on publishing the autobiography of the former prime minister.
“We are looking for appropriate author to write the biography, the number of writers may be one or more,” Shamsuzzaman Khan said.
Pointing to recent attack at the Bangladesh High Commission in London, he said the country must be led on the ideology of Bangabandhu and Tajuddin Ahmad. “Otherwise we won't be able to resist the evil forces that tore Bangabandhu's photograph during the attack at the Bangladesh High Commission.“Those who tore up Bangabandhu's photograph want to turn Bangladesh into a Pakistan oriented country.”
Speaking as the chief guest former vice-chancellor of Dhaka University Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique said we will have to enlighten our young generation about the history and ideology of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Tajuddin Ahmad.
Appreciating Mimi for her quality of writing, Dr Zafar Iqbal, a noted science fiction author advised her to continue writing.
