AL's Khulna candidate places manifesto

Campaign continues in Gazipur

The ruling Awami League (AL) nominated mayoral candidate for Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Talukder Abdul Khaleque yesterday unveiled his 31-point election manifesto for the city's development.

He read out a written manifesto at Khulna Press club yesterday ahead of the upcoming mayoral elections scheduled for May 15, reports our Khulna correspondent.

In the manifesto, he came up with some solutions like taking initiative to form a city government to help KCC stand independently and develop the city.

The manifesto contains some popular citizen demands including water and sewerage system development, expansion of city roads, health facilities, among others.

The mayoral candidate also pledged to take initiative and recover 22 canals from grabbers.

The other points include constructing two new parks,  renovating the older ones and ensuing accountability and transparency of KCC.

Nazrul Islam Monju, BNP nominated candidate will announce his manifesto today.

Meanwhile, in Gazipur, Advocate Md Jahangir Alam, AL-backed mayoral candidate, campaigned in the city's Chhoydana area yesterday, reports our Gazipur correspondent.

BNP-backed mayoral candidate Hasan Uddin Sarker also campaigned in the city's Chandara Madrasa and Kuniya Mirza Hashen School areas.
