Accidents claim ten lives
Ten people were killed and 21 injured in road accidents in five districts yesterday and on Saturday.
In Madaripur, three people were killed and 18 others injured when a BRTC bus collided head-on with a mango-carrying truck on Dhaka-Barisal highway in Kamaldi Bridge area of Rajor upazila yesterday morning.
The deceased are Shovo Ghos, 22, of Shariakandi area in Bogra, Saidur Rhaman Khan, 40, of Gournondi in Barisal, and Giash Uddin, 45, of Madaripur Sadar.
Two of them died on the spot while another on the way to Rajor Upazila Health Complex Hospital. The injured were also admitted to the hospital.
In Pabna, two people were killed and three others injured as a truck hit a pickup-van on Bangabandhu bridge on Saturday night.
The deceased are Mohammed Miru, 24, driver of the van and Shukur Ali, 26, of Chingaspur village in Bogra.
Miru died on the spot and Shukur was succumbed to his injuries at Sirajganj General Hospital yesterday.
In Manikganj, a truck helper, aged around 22, was killed as a truck hit another stationed truck from behind on Dhaka-Paturia highway at Arpara in Shibalaya upazila yesterday.
In another accident in the upazila, Afsar Uddin, 55, of Bhawalkandi village was killed on the spot as a Dhaka-bound truck hit his bicycle in front of Tepra BRAC office yesterday.
In Dinajpur, a man was killed as a tractor hit his motorcycle from behind in Dhukurjhari area of Biral upazila on Saturday night.
The deceased is Abdur Rashid, 34, of Chowliapatty area under Dinajpur municipality.
In Joypurhat Sadar, Mehdi Hasan, 26, of Khanjanpur village was killed as a tractor ran him over after he fell from an easy bike in front of BDB office.
Eyewitnesses said the tractor hit the easy bike before killing Mahdi on the spot.
In Faridpur, a man was killed as his brick-laden tractor fell into a ditch beside Sadarpur-Taphakhola road after he lost his control over the vehicle in Shoildobi area under Sadarpur upazila yesterday.
The deceased is Shanto Sheikh, 23, of Motukchar village of the upazila. He died on the spot.
