7 lives lost in road accidents
At least seven people were killed and seven others injured in road accidents across five districts yesterday.
Our Faridpur correspondent reports, truck driver Jakir Hossain Mollah, 32, was killed when he lost control of the wheels and the vehicle fell into a roadside ditch in Bhanga upazila.
Police handed the body over to his family.
In Faridpur sadar upazila, schoolteacher Jahangir Hossain, 47, was killed when a truck ran him over, said Balayet Hossain, chairman of Kanaipur Union Parishad.
Meanwhile, in Bagerhat, trader Bellal, 22, died in a pickup-car collision. He was riding the car, said police. Three of his co-riders were injured, reports our local correspondent.
In Chittagong, Ahmed Hossen, 70, and Tohmina Begum, 45, were killed in a collision between a a bus and an autorickshaw in Baskhali upazila, according to police.
Three others were injured and hospitalised.
Our Bogra correspondent reports, biker Md Mamun was killed on the spot when a truck ran him over at Arulia airport point in the town.
In Lalmonirhat, Sahidul Islam, 46, a day labourer, died when a speeding truck hit him in Patgram upazila, said local police.
