7 BCL men arrested for CU clash

Police yesterday detained seven members of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) of Chittagong University (CU) unit from the university premises.

Citing “suspicious movement” police detained the seven men in front of Suhrawardy Hall on the campus, sources said.

Belal Md Jahangir, officer-in-charge of Hathazari Police Station said the BCL men were detained as their movement was suspicious.

But the police officials denied disclosing the names of the detainees.

The hall was being raided by police in connection to the incident.

Meanwhile, two groups of BCL clashed on the campus on Tuesday, leaving six people injured.
