5,000 illegal gas lines snapped in N’ganj

At least 5,000 illegal gas connections were disconnected in a day-long operation in Sonargaon upazila in Narayanganj yesterday.

A mobile court operated by Titas Gas Distribution and Transmission Company launched the operation in the upazila.

Asaduzzaman Azad, assistant engineer of Sonargaon zone of Titas said, about 5000 illegal gas connections were snapped after removing 10km illegal gas lines from Baidya Bazar and Bardi Union.

Regular operations will be conducted to phase out illegal gas connections in phases after getting the cooperation of the law enforcing agencies.

BM Ruhul Amin Rimon, Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Sonargaon Upazila said, illegal gas connections were given to different areas of the upazila without permission of Titas gas.
