43 N'ganj 'Jamaat-Shibir' men held
Police detained 43 suspected Jamaat-Shibir men with jihadi books, leaflets and banners at a Chinese restaurant in Narayanganj's Sonargaon upazila yesterday.
When police rushed to the spot, the detainees told them that they gathered there for a picnic, said Sonargaon Police Station Office-in-Charge Morshed Alam.
When the law enforcers left the place, they chanted slogans “Allahu Akbar”, making police suspicious, said the OC.
They pelted police with chairs and brickbats as the law enforcers attempted to besiege the restaurant, said Morshed.
To bring the situation under control, police fired several blank shots, he said, adding that later they with the help of locals managed to detain the 43.
