40 gold bars seized at Sylhet airport
Customs officials yesterday recovered 40 gold bars worth Tk 2 crore from a Biman flight at Sylhet's Osmani International Airport.
The bars weighing 4.60 kilogrammes were found in a box underneath a seat of the flight (BG-248) that came from Dubai, said Ahsan Ullah, an assistant commissioner of customs.
It was supposed to land at Sylhet early in the morning. But due to a bad weather, it landed at Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport first. Later, it landed at the Sylhet airport around 11:00am.
No one has been arrested yet, he added.
