36 youths return from Indian jail

A total of 36 Bangladeshi youths returned home through Benapole check post yesterday after serving one year's jail terms in an Indian prison.

Indian police handed them over to Benapole Immigration Police around 7:00pm, said Tariqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Benapole Check Post Police Station.

They hail from Khulna, Barisal and Norail districts.

The OC said the youths illegally entered India two years back without valid documents through Jessore border in search of good jobs.

Later, Indian police arrested them in Kerala town. Subsequently, an Indian court sentenced them to one year's imprisonment each and sent them to Kerala Central Jail.

The returnees will be handed over to their respective families, police said.
