3.59 lakh vacant govt posts

Public Administration Minister Syed Ashraful Islam yesterday informed the parliament that over 3.59 lakh government posts are vacant with different ministries and division.

While replying to the queries of the lawmakers’, the minister added that of the total vacant posts, there are 48,246 class one posts, 54,294 class two posts, 1,83,737 class three posts and 73,984 class four posts.

In a scripted reply, he told the parliament that the government has taken initiatives to fill up the vacant posts.

"Request letters have already been sent to all ministries, divisions and the organisations to fill up their vacant posts as soon as possible," he said in the scripted answer.

The minister further said manpower is recruited in class 1 & 2 through the Public Service Commission, as per the demands of the ministries and divisions and the offices under them.

"However, the ministries, divisions and the organisations under them recruit manpower from class 3 & 4 as per their respective recruiting rules," he added.
