3 Biman staff summoned

A Dhaka court yesterday summoned three employees of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, asking them to appear before it on June 17 in a case filed for their alleged negligence in duty during a flight that carried Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in 2016.

They are SA Siddique, chief engineer (quality assurance); Shah Alam, engineer (technician); and Najmul Haq, engineer (officer).

After accepting the case filed by Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC), Metropolitan Magistrate Subrata Ghosh Shuvo passed the order.

Earlier on April 4, another Dhaka court cleared all 11 Biman staffers of attempted sabotage.

However, the court allowed CTTC to file a case against the three employees for their alleged negligence.

On November 27, 2016, a VVIP flight of Biman's Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, carrying Hasina, on way to Budapest, made an emergency landing  in Turkmenistan after a loose nut caused engine oil leakage and oil pressure loss in Engine-1.
