2 more held over murder of mother, son

Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has arrested a suspected prime accused and her husband in connection with the murder of a mother and son in Sylhet city.

The arrestees are Tania Begum of Ghosekandi village of Titas upazila in Comilla, and her husband Yousuf Mamun of Rampasha of Bishwanath upazila in Sylhet.

Rejaul Karim Mallick, special superintendent of PBI in Sylhet, said Tania was arrested on early Monday from Titas and her husband was arrested from Bandarbazar area in Sylhet city on Sunday evening.

On April 1 morning, police recovered the bodies of Rokeya Begum, 40, a parlour owner, and her son Rabiul Islam, 16, from a house in Kharpara residential area of Sylhet city's Mirabazar.

They were strangled and stabbed to death at least two days before the recovery, Gousul Hossain, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station said after autopsy.

On April 4, police arrested one Nazmul Hossain.
