2 held with 50,500 Yaba pills in Ctg

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) have arrested two drug peddlers and seized 50,500 yaba tablets worth an estimated Tk 65 lakhs in the port city.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of Rab-7 raided a microbus in Fatikchari upazila on Monday night and arrested Kalam Miah, 38, with 49,500 contraband tablets in his possession.

In another raid at Lalkhan Bazar area yesterday, Rab-7 arrested Md Jahangir Alam, 31, and seized 10,000 yaba pills from him.

During interrogation, he admitted to bringing the tablets from Teknaf, aiming to sell them in the city, Rab officials quoted the accused as saying.

Both the accused were handed over to the police, Rab officials said.
