14 thatched houses gutted in fire

Fire gutted 14 thatched houses in a shanty in Tigerpus area of Chittagong city early yesterday.

The fire started at a house of Kuar Par shanty in Railway Colony around 2:15am soon spread to the 13 adjacent houses, said Rupan Kanti Biswas of Agrabad Fire Service Control Room. On information, fire fighters rushed there and doused the blaze after two hours. However, the reason behind the fire could not be known immediately, he said.
