136 more Bangladeshis return from Yemen today
One hundred and thirty six more Bangladeshis, who were evacuated from Yemen, will return to Dhaka today by a special flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines.
They were evacuated from Hodeida city of Yemen on April 15 by Indian naval ship INS Sumitra and taken to Djibouti the following day, Md Shahriar Alam, state minister for foreign affairs, told a press conference yesterday.
The junior minister said the total number of Bangladeshis in Yemen would not exceed 700-800. But Foreign Secretary Md Shahidul Haque earlier said the number could be 1,500-3,000.
Meanwhile, 29 more evacuated from the capital Sana on Sunday, were flown to Addis Ababa in Ethiopia, said SM Mahbubul Alam, counsellor at Bangladesh embassy in Kuwait who is now in Djibouti for the evacuation.
