‘100 hurt’ as RMG workers clash with Ctg cops
At least 100 people including 20 police personnel were reportedly injured in a clash between garment workers and law enforcers in Chittagong city’s New Market area today.
Police picked up 100 workers of of Ashiyan Apparels Limited from the spot, Jashim Uddin, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station said adding that the workers of vandalised several vehicles including a motorcycle in the area.
Hundreds of workers of Ashiyan Apparels Limited gathered on Station Road around 9:30am protesting shifting of their factory to Kattoli from the area, reports our Chittagong correspondent.
The clash took place when the agitating workers hurled brick chips targeting the law enforcers, said the OC who was also injured during the clash.
According to the eye witnesses, some 100 people were injured during the clash.
Police took the situation under control nearly one hour after the clash started around 11:30am.
