6,064 mobile SIMs seized, 3 held in Ctg
Telecom regulator and law enforcers in a joint drive have detained three people with 6,064 mobile SIM cards in Chittagong city for using those in illegal call termination.
They seized huge number of illegal call termination equipments from the detainees' possession during a raid at Sky Blue Tower in Taherabad residential area of the port city, said a press release of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission today.
Of the total SIMs, 2,978 SIMs are from state-owned mobile operator Teletalk, 1,414 are from Grameen Phone, 782 from Robi, 570 from Airtel and 320 are from Banglalink.
Of the SIMs, around 5,000 are intact but pre-activated. All these SIMs are also biometrically verified and showed proper registration, said a top official of BTRC seeking anonymity.
Five laptops, four routers, three Teletalk 3G modems and 10 sets of gateway were also seized from the spot.
