Pran starts mango collection

Pran has recently started collecting mango along with pulping activities.

“We started collecting a large amount of mango directly from the company's contract farmers from Rajshahi, Natore, Chapainawabganj, Naogaon, Dinajpur, Meherpur and Satkhira,” said Hazrat Ali, general manager of Pran Agro Ltd Factory, yesterday.

“Pran sets a target to purchase 60,000 metric tonnes of mango,” he told a press conference at the company's factory in Natore.

This year's collection and pulping activities began on May 28 and it will continue in two phases till the end of the season in August.

Md Kamruzzaman, senior manager for contract farming department of Pran Agro Business Ltd, said Pran would collect mangoes from 16,000 farmers it had contracts with.

“The farmers get necessary assistance from the company including training on using fertilisers and pesticides. As a result, we get good outcome and the farmers are getting the guarantee of getting their mangoes sold,” he added.     

Zeaul Haque, an assistant general manager at Pran-RFL Group, and Abdul Kader Sarker, a senior manager at Pran Agro Ltd Factory, were present.
