Duty waiver for two skin care products

The revenue authority has exempted supplementary duty on two skin care products -- petroleum jelly and baby lotion -- in the face of demand from manufacturers, according to a notification issued at the end of last week.

However SD on other types of lotions remains applicable, said a senior official of the National Board of Revenue.

The move comes as demand for skin care products is rising with the advent of winter. NBR slapped 10 percent SD on these items at the beginning of the fiscal year.

The NBR also exempted value added tax on commission earnings of travel agents from airlines amid demand from travel agents.
