BASIC Bank launches WhatsApp banking

State-owned BASIC Bank on Monday rolled out a WhatsApp-based banking service informing of account balance and last five transactions. Prof Dr Abul Hashem, chairman of the bank's board of directors, inaugurated the service after concluding a board meeting held virtually.

Availing the service requires saving +8801713257414 in the app and sending a message for activation.

Some private commercial banks, including Dhaka Bank, City Bank and Islami Bank Bangladesh, have already launched the service.
