Minister urges Czech businesses to invest more in Bangladesh

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam has urged the entrepreneurs of Czech Republic to invest more in Bangladesh.

Ample scope is still there to boost bilateral trade between the two countries and steps should be taken to explore the untapped potential in economic, commercial and technical areas, he said. The state minister made the comments during a meeting with Czech Republic's Ambassador to Bangladesh Milan Hovorka at the foreign ministry in the capital yesterday.

Alam recalled and appreciated the recognition given by the then Czechoslovakia after the independence of Bangladesh, the foreign ministry said in a statement.

The Czech ambassador—who resides in New Delhi—also agreed to the need for establishment of closer commercial and trade ties between the two friendly nations.

He lauded the impressive progress Bangladesh has achieved in economic and other sectors.

Hovorka also expressed the readiness of the Czech Republic to invest in different sectors of Bangladesh.
