Forex reserves dip below $34 billion
Bangladesh's foreign currency reserves fell below $34 billion today after the central bank sold $71 million in in the interbank market to help banks clear import bills, said a Bangladesh Bank official.
Before the sale, Bangladesh's foreign exchange reserves stood at $34.05 billion.
Since July 2022, the central bank has sold around $6 billion in the interbank market to contain the volatility amid shortage of US dollars as import payments remained higher than export earnings and remittances.
