BSA spreads its wings
Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, a state-run cultural organisation, recently honoured five cultural personalities in Dinajpur for their stellar contributions to their respective fields.
The programme was organised at Dinajpur Shilpakala Academy's auditorium.
Liakat Ali Lucky, DG, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy as chief guest handed over the crests, a certificate and prize money of Taka 10,000 to the awardees.
Enamul Haque Additional Deputy Commissioner [ADC] Revenue chaired the event.
Azizul Imam Chowdhury GS of Dinajpur unit AL and administrator of Dinajpur Zila Parishad, Mirza Anwarul Islam Tanu convener of Dinajpur unit Sammilito Sangkritik Jote were present as special guests.
The distinguished personalities are Kazi Borhan Uddin [stage play], Nirmal Chandra Roy Sarker [folk culture], Sunil Kumar Majumdar [vocal music], Raziuddin Chowdhury [arts] and Nipa Sheth [dance].
Liakat Ali in his speech said that Bangladesh has a rich cultural history. But the tradition is gradually fading away and people must come forward to preserve it. He said that with under the aegis of the government Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy has expanded its activities to all 64 districts and its upazilas as well.
“We plan to run cultural activities at the union level,” he added.
Later, the programme wrapped up with a colouful cultural programme performed by local artistes.
