Bodi challenges rejection of his bail plea
Ruling Awami League MP Abdur Rahman Bodi yesterday filed an appeal with a Dhaka court challenging another court's order that cancelled his bail and sent him to jail in a corruption case.
The lawmaker from Cox's Bazar-4 constituency filed the appeal with Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court of Dhaka after Metropolitan magistrate Md Maruf Hossain passed the order on Sunday. However, Judge Md Jahurul Haque did not pass any order on the matter yesterday.
On August 21, the Anti-Corruption Commission filed the case charging Bodi with amassing wealth illegally and concealing information in his wealth statement.
On surrender, the metropolitan magistrate refused the AL MP bail on Sunday and sent him to jail.
BAIL OF MANNAN EXTENDED
A Dhaka court yesterday extended bail of former state minister for housing and public works Abdul Mannan Khan till December nine on his surrender in a corruption case.
Earlier on August 24, Mannan got an ad-interim bail till yesterday on consideration of his illness and status as a former state minister.
The Anti-Corruption Commission filed the case against Mannan with Ramna Police Station on August 21 on charges of amassing illegal wealth and concealing information about it.
The case statement said the former state minister concealed information about his property worth Tk 4.59 lakh and he could not produce documents in favour of his income of Tk 75 lakh.
