BNP, Jubo Dal leaders arrested

Activist Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and its front organisation in Noakhali blocked the Sonaimuri- Senbagh road protesting the arrest of a local leader of the party in Senbagh upazila yesterday.
The arrestee, Mohammad Faruk Babul, is the secretary of Senbagh upazila unit of BNP, reports our correspondent.
Former BNP lawmaker Joynal Abedin Faruk alleged that the law enforcers picked up Faruk Babul around 10:30am without any arrest warrant against him.
Away in Pirojpur, police in a drive arrested Mizanur Rahman Ripon, secretary of Nazirpur upazila unit of Jubo Dal from the upazila headquarters on Saturday night, reports our correspondent.
Mostafizur Rahman, officer in-charge of Nazirpur Police Station, said Ripon was arrested in connection with the murder of local Jubo League leader Elias Sheikh in October.
In Jessore, law enforcers in separate drives on Saturday night arrested 10 leaders and activists of BNP from different upazilas of the district.
Among the arrestees, three were detained from Sadar upazila, four from Monirampur, two from Chougachha and one from Jhikargachha upazila.
In Patuakhali, police arrested a local BNP leader and three other activists of the party from Mirjaganj and Baufal upazilas on Saturday.
Of the arrestees, Sahabuddin Nannu, is the president of Mirjaganj upazila unit of BNP.
