BLOCKADE: 5 hurt, 8 vehicles vandalised in Narayanganj
At least five people were injured and eight vehicles were vandalised in Narayanganj today on the fourth consecutive day of nonstop countrywide blocked programme enforced by BNP-led 20-party alliance.
Meanwhile, miscreant’s torched a bus at Panchabati BISIC Industrial Area in Fatullah area around 9:30am, said said Manjur Kader, officer-in-charge of Sadar Model Police Station in Narayanganj.
BNP chief Khaleda Zia on January 5 called the countrywide blockade for an indefinite period to protest the government's not allowing her party and allies to hold rallies in the capital and elsewhere.
The BNP men were injured as they engaged a clash with police that took place in Nitaiganj area around 8:30am, he said.
Five crude bombs were blasted at the scene.
Local BNP led by Taimur Alam Khandaker, district unit party president, brought out a procession supporting the protest programme. A chase and counter chase took place between them.
Pickets pelted brick bats and vandalised around 8 to10 vehicles. They attempted to torch a truck there.
Police dispersed the precisionists and detained two BNP supporters, the police official said.
