‘Biggest’ haul of yaba seized in Ctg
Members of Bangladesh Navy seized the “biggest ever” consignment of Yaba tablets at the outer anchorage of Chittagong port early today.
They seized 15 lakh pieces of Yaba worth Tk 82.50 crore from a fishing trawler, reports our Chittagong correspondent.
The Navy personnel first spotted the trawler with smugglers near the Buoy zone-1 around 2:15am and challenged it due to its suspicious movement.
Being chased, the gang of smugglers jumped into the water and fled the scene leaving the trawler near Parky Beach, said Commander Atiqur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Navy’s anti-smuggling cell.
The officers of the anti-smuggling cell later recovered the Yaba tablets from the abandoned vessel, the commander said adding that this is the largest ever haul of Yaba in the country.
None was arrested in this connection.
