Banglalink reaches 3cr users
Banglalink, the second largest mobile operator of Bangladesh and a subsidiary of the Netherlands-based Vimpelcom Ltd, has reached a milestone by acquiring three crore subscribers, a statement of the operator said.
The total number of mobile phone users in the country is 11.68 crore as of July, according to Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission.
Grameenphone leads the market with 4.94 crore subscribers, while Robi is in the third position with 2.42 crore users.
Ziad Shatara, chief executive officer of Banglalink, said: “Banglalink is proud to have reached this coveted milestone. We are constantly working to address the unique needs of our subscribers."
The company is well-poised to address challenges with its extensive and ultra-modern 3G network and committed to empowering people with new and affordable communication solutions, he said.
“Already, Banglalink has established the fastest 3G network which has been vetted by BTRC in its survey,” the statement said, adding that the operator has 3G coverage in all the 64 districts.
