Bangladesh win by 87 runs
Ace all rounder Shakib Al Hasan hit a brilliant century and took four wickets as Bangladesh beat Zimbabwe by 87 runs in the first ODI in Chittagong.
He hit his sixth ODI hundred off 95 balls lacing the innings with 10 boundaries in his comeback match after disciplinary ban, helping Bangladesh to 281 for 7 in 50 overs.
Along with wicket keeper Mushfiqur Rahmin (54), Shakib (101) added 148 for the fifth wicket to pull the Tigers from crumbled edge after three top order batsmen were lost early, breaking the Bangladesh record set by himself and Raqibul Hasan against South Africa in 2008.
Mushfiqur smashed his 17th ODI fifty off 59 balls.
After their departure, Sabbir Rahman provided the fireworks towards the end with a 25-ball 44 which included three fours and sixes each in his debut. He hammered Tinashe Panyangara with two consecutive big boundaries over midwicket and mid-off in last two balls of the innings.
Panyangara took three wickets while Chatara two.
The wickets of Tamim Iqbal, Anamul Haque and Mahmudullah were lost before drinks. The run rate was just above 2 runs an over during the first 10 overs.
With ball in hand, Shakib first hit the visitors dismissing the important wickets of Sikandar Raza (15) and Vusi Sibanda (0) respectively in his third and fifth deliveries during seventh over. He picked up his third and fourth wickets removing Solomon Mire (11) and John Nyumbu (4) in his 35th and 39th overs.
