Stalker beats up schoolgirl, her mother in Bogra
A stalker beat up a schoolgirl and her mother at Shukhanpukur of Gabtoli upazila in Bogra just because she rejected his love proposal.
Injured, they are now undergoing treatment at Gabtoli Health Complex.
After the filing of a case in this connection, police arrested the lone accused yesterday morning and produced him in a court that sent him to jail, said Shaheed Mahmud Khan, officer-in-charge of Gabtoli police.
Ruhul Amin Ruyel, 20, of the same area had been pestering 14-year-old Shumaiya Islam Jessi for about five years, said her mother Nasima Akhtar, aged 45.
Ruyel, a third year student of the chemistry department of Government Azizul Haque College, Bogra, is a distant paternal uncle of Jessi. Her family warned him several times not to disturb the teenage girl but he didn't listen.
On Thursday, he beat up the girl on her way back home from Mostafizar Rahman Memorial High School in Shukhanpukur of Nepaltoli union, where she studies.
The next day she along with her mother went to his house to make complaints to his family. When they were returning home, Ruyel beat the girl again and her mother with a cricket stump.
The victims were hospitalized that night.
Headmaster of the school Mostafizur Rahman Mojnu said the girl is one of the brilliant students of the school and that she achieved the highest grade GPA-5 in Junior School Certificate exams.
He demanded exemplary punishment of the stalker.
