The government is all set to relocate the fourth batch comprising around 3,500 Rohingyas from Cox's Bazar to Noakhali's Bhasan Char today.

Over 1,152 Rohingyas left Cox's Bazar refugee camps for Chattogram's Patenga yesterday afternoon as a ship would set off for Bhasan Char from there today.

Buses carrying the Rohingyas left the temporary transit point set up at the field of Ukhia Degree College around noon.

Mohammad Shamsuddoza, additional refugee rehabilitation and repatriation commissioner, said only those who expressed their interest to move to Bhasan Char are being moved there.

They have taken preparation to relocate around 3,500 Rohingyas in the fourth batch, he said.

So far, the government has relocated over 7,000 Rohingyas to the island from Cox's Bazar.

Bangladesh Navy has implemented the Tk 3,100 crore housing project in Bhasan Char in Noakhali's Hatiya for 100,000 Rohingyas from Cox's Bazar.

Some 750,000 Rohingyas fled a military crackdown in Myanmar's Rakhine State in 2017 and took shelter in Teknaf and Ukhia of Cox's Bazar, while around 300,000 Rohingyas were staying in the coastal district before that.
